Custom Grading Scales
By default, all apps grade assignments using direct scaling. If a student receives a 3/4 on the assignment, when the score is transferred it will show as 75% of whatever the assignment is worth in the gradebook.
Sometimes, schools or departments make use of indirect grading scales for assignments or assessments.
For example, an organization may want to use the example grading scale shown in the table below:
Assignment Score | Gradebook Score |
0-49% | 50% |
50-74% | 62.5% |
75-89% | 75% |
90-99% | 85% |
100% | 100% |
Implementing this grading scale in an app requires custom code to be written and inserted. It is important to note that if an organization decides to have a custom grading scale implemented in an app for their use, the grading scale will apply to all assignments. It is not possible at this point to have the grading scale only applied to specific assignments or courses. However, a teacher could create multiple spreadsheets, splitting assignment types or courses to limit where the custom grading scale is applied.
